Rules and Regulations of the Contest

The contest will take place on September 22, 2013 at 9:30 am in the Beethoven Hall in Bonn.

The main ideas of the contest

Identification of talented musicians, performing works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, promotion of Rachmaninoff creations – an outstanding Russian composer and pianist. It is an opportunity for contestants of different nationalities from different piano schools, to broaden their contacts and communication, to make new friendship. Also it is cooperation in the world of music through magical language of music that does not need any translation.

The competition is open for participants of all nationalities till the age of 33, determined on September 22, 2013.

The number of participants is limited: that demands a selection round on the following criteria:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Photo in high quality
  • The program performed by the participant
  • Audio or video recording (possible Internet links)

The Online registration at Radel Application should be sent no later than August 20, 2013

The competition program should consist of Rachmaninoff’s works in duration of 20 minutes. In case of violations of the reglament, members of the jury can interrupt the performance of the participant.

As required composition in the program, the contestant must performe on of the etudes op.33 or 39 by Rachmaninoff

Auditions are held in public and consists of 1 round. The works of the competition program must be performed by heart.

The order of performances in the competition is determined by the drawing of lots by the initial letter of the name of the participant on the day, before the start of the competition. All contestants must arrive, no later than September 21, 2013, for confirmation of their registration in the contest and to participate in the draw, which will take place at the opening of the festival on 21.09.2013 in Hall Studio Dumont at 19:00.

To work in the jury of the contest, the organizing committee invites leading Russian and foreign musicians.

All participants, that wonn prizes, will be awarded with the title of “Winner of the contest” or “Diplomant of competition”.

The jury’s decisions are final discussion, revision, or not subject to appeal.

Laureates and winners of the contest will be awarded certificates of Rachmaninov and prizes.

Government, community organizations, and privat individuals can establish special prizes for participants which are awarded by the jury.

Awarding of winners will take place at the closing ceremony of the festival on September 22 at 19.00 in the Beethoven Hall in Bonn. Winners of the competition will performe on gala – concert.
